Junior Chef final heat

The final heat of this year’s Junior Chef of the Year took place on Tuesday 23 April.

Four primary school pupils from years five and six (ages 9 to 11)  cooked their hearts out for the chance to reach the final of the competition, which took place at Loughborough College on Tuesday 25 June.

They were tasked with cooking a main and dessert, with the overall winner having their meal recreated at a year six leaver’s lunch at their school by their school food team.

The final heat took place at Hinckley Parks Primary School and was judged by Mel Hook, Businesses Development Manager for Leicestershire Traded Services (LTS), Brian Gardiner, Chef Development Manager at LTS and David Harding, Headteacher of Hinckley Parks.

Junior Chef of the Year is run by Leicestershire Traded Services, which provides school food to 170 schools in the county.
